Instagram for Design Inspiration
To help you find the best UX & UI design resources on Instagram, we've compiled a list of a few favourites to get you started.
Regardless of whether you are an advocate for social media or a bit more ‘off-grid’, one major pro of Instagram is its ability to provide quick fire snippets of inspiration.
Instagram allows you to browse curated content at your leisure. For those who have it, Instagram is more than likely part of your daily routine with the average amount of time spent on the Android app alone totalling 53 minutes per day. More scary statistics here.
The basic idea is this: you happen upon a feed you like, you follow it and you keep getting to see more things you will probably like. Now, this sounds obvious but it has the potential to become a constant source of inspiration that is built into your daily routine, for the visual learner this is especially powerful.
Every single day, any time you open the app you are opening the possibility to be inspired.
Save your inspiration
The ‘save’ function gives you the ability to build up your own gallery of inspiration by bookmarking your favourite posts. While great posts may come and go in your feed, the save button allows you to keep a great post closer to hand for quick reference later. You can create collections to organize the posts you save.
That’s nice, but I design websites…
Yes, you can find inspiration for anything from interior design, recipes to prospective tiny house consumers… But, there are also lots of great accounts to follow on Instagram that are solely dedicated to UX & UI design that provide quick snippets of theory and pure visual inspiration from a large pool of talented designers.
Most of the content found on these accounts will also be found on Dribble, Awwwards and Behance, which are also great platforms for inspiration. But recently a large amount of the great work found on these sites is also found on Instagram. Making your saved tab a one-stop shop for discovering inspiring creative work. Super handy.
