A new chapter for The Story Museum
Oxford’s ‘most unusual’ Story Museum is a brilliant celebration of the power of the written and spoken word. From immersive exhibitions, theatre and gallery spaces, through to events and outreach work, the museum champions storytelling of all forms.
Launch ProjectDriving footfall to the newly expanded space
In 2018, the museum was awarded £1.63 million in lottery funding to triple the venue size and number of exhibits. The museum needed a fresh, new website to present upcoming events more effectively and to drive footfall. They were also keen to integrate Spektrix, an intelligent booking engine, into the site, to improve ticketing and marketing.
Spektrix for admissions, event tickets and donations
As experienced Spektrix partners, Eyekiller was best placed to take the Story Museum’s online presence to the next level. By streamlining event information, marketing, and online ticket purchasing with this specialist arts booking software, the new website would be optimised to drive revenue.
Identifying desires and pain-points
Eyekiller created initial wireframes at an early stage and presented these to a wide variety of stakeholders, including parents of young children, and teachers. This workshop helped us to define the website’s visitors and to identify what mattered most to them.
Adding character
Once the essential elements of the website were established, we built a bespoke museum admission booking using the Spektrix API, enabling visitors to take a pick-and-mix approach to their trip. All aspects of the new website were fine-tuned to reflect the museum’s rebrand.
A happy ending
The website now reflects all of the museum’s revamped exhibits, shows and collections. We’ve added new user-friendly pages, including ‘What’s on’ and ‘Schools & Groups’, that foster user-engagement and lead to greater visitor numbers. The site is fully responsive and is packed with Calls to Action, further encouraging teachers and parents to organise a visit.
“It was a pleasure working with Eyekiller”
We would not hesitate to recommend Eyekiller to any organisations looking to redevelop their website, particularly multi-arts venues with several key messages and organisational aims.
